Within the frame of the global economic recession and ongoing debates on climate change, dialogue and solidarity between the different actors of the oil and gas industry are vital. By bringing the region's leading specialists and decision makers together, the ASEAN Council on Petroleum (ASCOPE) has become the archetypal instrument for cooperation among the member countries in this field.

Aspiring to establish itself as a dynamic and competitive market at the international level, it promotes the creation of synergistic business opportunities and engages in the petroleum and petroleum related business. Since its establishment in 1975, the council has successfully accomplished its objectives - starting from promoting a policy, legal and regulatory framework; undertaking joint techno-economics studies; developing a knowledge management system for information exchange; promoting and sharing researchers' works; up to undertaking value added activities on oil and gas development.

Today, as a member of ASCOPE family and as a country which strongly believes in the oil and gas industry, Petrovietnam is willing to follow this optimistic path and will host the 10th ASCOPE Conference and Exhibition under the theme ''Innovation & Cooperation - The Way Forward'' in Ho Chi Minh City. As we have to take into account new components - new oil field discoveries, environmental protection, the changing and competitive global market, deploying state-of-the-art equipment and technique is therefore an imperative, working together as well. During the event, the current issues faced across the ASEAN markets related to the oil and gas industry and ASCOPE upcoming plan will be discussed. It will certainly provide delegates thought provoking ideas to take away…
