Project Superintendent - Fitout

Job description

The incumbent will be responsible for providing outfitting expertise, planning and coordination of equipment, materials, design and commissioning activities for allocated shipbuilding projects, specifically in marine interior outfitting works. He needs to monitor and ensure adherence to the specifications, production plans and required safety and quality standards.

The detailed responsibilities include:

• Provide leadership and oversee the progress of various fitout teams.
• Provide technical review for all fitout main components and materials
• Responsible for the development and management of the Fitout schedule, ensuring workshop drawings and fitout workshop packages are developed on time, and action all Fitout related procurement activities in accordance with the overall project schedule
• Provide check plotting input to all nominated drawings in the Design Register
• Ensure that the vessels fitout meets the contractual requirements and specifications
• Attend to and resolve any technical and production issues with Subcontractors, Clients, Class and Flag
• Uphold quality and safety standards through oversight of project specific quality assurance processes and safety processes and ensure costs are within budget limits
• Ensure adequate resourcing through utilization of internal and external resources, and manage subcontractors throughout the build and commissioning of the vessel

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 8 years’ experience in a Fitout coordinating role, preferably within the Shipbuilding industry.
• Experience with supervision and installation of high end marine interiors
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, and experience in managing projects of between AUD 1M to AUD 5M of outfitting value.
• Strong network of industry suppliers, subcontractors and related contacts.

Note: This position is based in Vung Tau, Vietnam and the successful candidate will be placed on a local remuneration package.
